“È tornato Jackson Browne e nel video del nuovo singolo My Cleveland Heart compare Phoebe Bridgers. Il registro è ironico. Il video si apre con Browne che si appresta a subire un’operazione al cuore. Mentre lo portano in sala operatoria, lui continua a suonare la chitarra. Quando finisce sul tavolo operatorio di fronte a un gruppo di osservatori, appare Phoebe Bridgers vestita da infermiera, mangia il cuore di Browne che viene sostituito da un organo artificiale.

“Phoebe Bridgers released a haunting, slowed down version of her Punisher single “Kyoto” earlier this year that featured harmonies from Jackson Browne. Now she’s appeared in his new video for “My Cleveland Heart,” which you can watch below. It was directed by Alissa Torvinen, who Browne chose for the job after seeing her video for another of Phoebe’s Punisher singles, “I Know The End,” and it features Browne undergoing heart surgery, and having his heart replaced with a shiny, gleaming artificial one. Phoebe plays a nurse, and there’s a shot of her clutching Browne’s old heart in the corner with blood on her mouth, suggesting she’s been eating it.”

“CLEVELAND, Ohio — Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Jackson Browne says the inspiration for his latest song, “My Cleveland Heart,” came during a drive around Northeast Ohio
“The person I was driving with said, ‘That’s Cleveland Heart,’” Browne said in the interview with Rolling Stone. “‘That’s where they make artificial hearts.’ I said, ‘Oh, I could use one of those!’”
Cleveland Scene
“2004 Rock Hall inductee Jackson Browne has a new single and music video out today that’s got Cleveland right there in the title, so it’s definitely good.”
Consequence
“Jackson Browne has announced his new album Downhill from Everywhere. It’s out July 23 via his own Inside Recordings, and to herald its coming, Browne has shared a music video for the lead single “My Cleveland Heart” that shows Phoebe Bridgers having a bloody good time.
For now, few details are known about Downhill from Everywhere, except that pre-orders will start his Friday, May 21st. But Browne did say in a statement on his website that the album had a recurring theme of inclusion. “There’s a deep current of inclusion running through this record,” he said. “I think that idea of inclusion, of opening yourself up to people who are different than you — that’s the fundamental basis for any kind of understanding in this world.””
Daily Cleveland News
“Famer Jackson Browne’s Rock & Roll Hall claims the ideas for his latest track, “My Cleveland Heart,” came while driving via northeast Ohio
“The individual I drove with stated, ‘This is Cleveland Heart,’” Browne stated in a meeting with RollingStone ‘There they make synthetic hearts. ‘I stated, “Oh, I might make use of among these!”
It’s unclear when Browne drove via northeastOhio The last time he was recognized in the location remained in 2019 when he did at the Grog Shop for a funeral for James Henke, a previous manager of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame that passed away that year.”
Exclaim!
“Jackson Browne joined Phoebe Bridgers for a new version of her song “Kyoto” in March, and the two have now come together again in Browne’s new video for new single “My Cleveland Heart.”
Directed by Alissa Torvinen Kouame, the video finds Browne centre stage in an operating theatre, preparing to undergo heart surgery led by Bridgers, his bandmates (Val McCallum, Greg Leisz, Jeff Young, Mauricio Lewak, Bob Glaub, Pete Thomas and Dave Faragher), and a doctor that looks an awful lot like himself.”
Grateful Web
“Jackson Browne released the video today for “My Cleveland Heart,” his new single, which drops on Friday everywhere. The single, co-written with his longtime guitarist Val McCallum, comes from Browne’s forthcoming album Downhill From Everywhere due out on July 23, worldwide through his label Inside Recordings.
The “My Cleveland Heart” video was directed by Alissa Torvinen (Phoebe Bridgers, Pink, Melanie Martinez – K12) and includes a cameo by Phoebe Bridgers along with Browne’s bandmates Val McCallum, Greg Leisz, Jeff Young, Mauricio Lewak, Bob Glaub as well as Pete Thomas and Dave Faragher.”

“Jackson Browne has shared a new video for “My Cleveland Heart.” The single is a cut off Downhill From Everywhere, Browne’s forthcoming album, which is due out on July 23.
The single was co-written with Browne’s longtime guitarist Val McCallum. Meanwhile, the video was directed by Alissa Torvinen, who was worked with the likes of Pink, Melanie Martinez and Phoebe Bridgers. In fact, Bridgers has a cameo on Browne’s new video, helping aid a robotic heart transplant.”
Pitchfork
“Jackson Browne has announced his next studio album Downhill From Everywhere, which arrives July 23 via his own Inside Recordings. Today, he’s shared the music video for his new single “My Cleveland Heart,” which features a cameo by Phoebe Bridgers. Watch Bridgers assist with Browne’s robotic heart transplant in the Alissa Torvinen–directed clip below (via Rolling Stone).
Alissa Torvinen directed Phoebe Bridgers’ “I Know the End” video. She said in a press release:
‘What an honor to collaborate with Jackson. His creativity is inspiring, not solely in music, but in everything he puts his energy into. We came up with a script for the video very serendipitously, and Phoebe joining us was a wonderful surprise. The way she received Jackson’s heart and the shot of her watching from the wings… perfectly dark and poetic and Phoebe.'”
Rock Cellar Magazine
““My Cleveland Heart” is the title of a new song from legendary singer/songwriter Jackson Browne — and its music video is a rather unexpected bit of irreverence and fun from him, with an assist from none other than Phoebe Bridgers.
The video was shared on Wednesday as a preview of Downhill from Everywhere, Browne’s new album due out July 23.”
SPIN
“Phoebe Bridgers makes a cameo in the new Jackson Browne video for “My Cleveland Heart,” a song from his Downhill From Everywhere LP that’s due out on July 23 through Inside Recordings.
The new record, which comes nearly 50 years after his 1972 self-titled debut, has “a deep current of inclusion running through this record,” Browne said in a statement. “I think that idea of inclusion, of opening yourself up to people who are different than you – that’s the fundamental basis for any kind of understanding in this world.””
Stereogum
“Phoebe Bridgers has a very special guest appearance in the music video for Jackson Browne’s new single “My Cleveland Heart.” The video — which was directed by Alissa Torvinen, who Browne picked after seeing the video she did for Bridgers’ “I Know The End” — begins with Browne being brought into an operating room to have heart surgery. Bridgers portrays one of the nurses and she ends up eating Browne’s heart off in a corner as he gets fitted with an artificial one.
“I thought it was really appropriate to take out my worn-out, useless heart and hand it to Phoebe,” Browne said to Rolling Stone. “Who better to hand [it] to than somebody young, strong, and possibly as cynical as me?””
The Urban Twist
“Jackson Browne has released a video for his breezy song “My Cleveland Heart,” and it features a familiar face: the singer cast Phoebe Bridgers as a cannibal nurse in the creepy video.
Alissa Torvinen, who also directed Bridgers’ video for “I Know The End,” directed the video for “My Cleveland Heart.” Browne is wheeled into surgery at a hospital in the first scene. Browne’s bandmates play doctors who remove the singer’s heart and substitute it with a high-tech artificial organ. Browne’s true heart is then handed to Bridgers, who starts devouring it in the corner of the room while dressed as a nurse.”
Ultimate Classic Rock
“Jackson Browne has announced a new album, Downhill From Everywhere. The LP, his first in six years, will arrive on July 23.
“On the surface, it’s about living in L.A.,” Browne said in a press release. “But it’s really a metaphor for life itself. I adore this city, but I’ve been trying to leave since around the time I finished my first album. You can love and appreciate and depend on a life as you know it, but deep down you may also long for something else, even if you don’t know what it is.”

From the new article, “Jackson Browne is Back in a Big Way“:

Home = life
I grew up in a house that my grandfather — a printer — built in the early 1900s in Highland Park, California, out of river rock and cut granite. It’s quite odd, a bit medieval, but gorgeous, with a chapel — which we recently restored — and a dungeon. Which I grew to realize was sort of a metaphor for human existence — below, you have the dungeon; above, the chapel. It was beautiful to grow up around the product of my grandfather’s creativity — you’re sort of instructed, you know?
