Jackson Browne Announces Additional 2015 US Tour Dates

September and October dates to include special guests Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams

Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne adds September and October U.S. shows his 2015 tour in support of his album, Standing In The Breach. Details and special benefit seating for all tour dates are available here.

This September and October, joining Jackson on the road with his longtime band mates Bob Glaub (Bass), Mauricio Lewak (Drums), Jeff Young (Hammond Organ, Piano), Chavonne Stewart amp; Alethea Mills (Harmony Vocals), and Greg Leisz (Guitar, Lap Steel, Pedal Steel) are multi-instrumentalist-vocalist Larry Campbell and singer-guitarist Teresa Williams. Currently on tour in support of their own eponymous debut album, produced by Campbell, their music distills everything into a potent, infectious blend of Americana style and timeless soul, offered with a relaxed generosity that can only come from rich experience.

Jackson Browne, Jack Tempchin & Joel Rafael Announce Circle Of Friends Benefit Concert For Cheyne Johnston Recovery

On April 9 at the California Center For the Arts, Escondido in North San Diego County, Jackson Browne and friends Jack Tempchin and Joel Rafael will host a special benefit to assist the recovery of Cheyne Johnston, a North County resident. Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 7 at Noon and can be purchased through the California Center For the Arts, Escondido at http://artcenter.org.

Last year, on April 27, Cheyne Johnston was involved in a very serious off road motorcycle accident while riding at Lake Elsinore motorcross. He was wearing full protective gear, which most likely saved his life. Cheyne suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury, specifically, DAI – which is Diffuse Axonal Injury – meaning he had multiple injuries throughout the brain in addition to forced impact to the front and back of his head. Cheyne also suffered a separated shoulder, multiple rib fractures and a fractured pelvis.

A North County resident, Cheyne is the father of two young children aged six and four. Aged 35, Cheyne is still unable to do anything for himself. As with any brain injury, recovery is a very long and slow process, and each brain injury is unique. In December of 2014, with their own funds depleted, Cheyne’s parents Karen and Charles Macbeth brought him home to live with them as he was no longer making progress in rehab. “We have worked hard and searched high and low to find quality help and therapists and have assembled a really good team, but it has not been easy,” says Karen Macbeth. “The reality of caring for a person with a severe traumatic brain injury is a daunting one. At this point in our journey, Cheyne is not ready for outpatient services, and we’ve found there is a lack of resources. Facilities are limited and expensive, and generally not covered by insurance. Finding experienced caregivers, therapists, doctors, and social workers who have the proper education and ability to care for brain injured individuals is challenging.”

Nearly two million people a year suffer a traumatic brain injury. Funds from the benefit concert will help provide resources for the recovery and care of Cheyne Johnston and help create The Cheyne C. Johnston Foundation for Traumatic Brain Injury Recovery and Education, with the hope to provide resources for other individuals and families who face a similar situation, as well as training for those wanting to specifically work in the field of brain injury recovery and care.

Jackson Browne, a personal friend of the family, along with North County residents and songwriters Jack Tempchin and Joel Rafael, also a friend of the family, decided to join forces as a “circle of friends” benefit to raise funds for Cheyne Johnston recovery.

The Grammy Museum® And Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Announce Performers For The Concert For Social Justice

The GRAMMY Museum®, in partnership with Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, will celebrate the launch of their Speak Up, Sing Out songwriting contest with The Concert For Social Justice on April 8, 2015, at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. Jackson Browne, David Crosby & Graham Nash and Tom Morello are the first performers announced for the concert, which will also feature special performances from actors Dennis Haysbert, Catherine Keener, Martin Sheen, and Alfre Woodard, and the winner(s) of the Speak Up, Sing Out songwriting contest.

“Defenders of social justice and human rights have long used music as a powerful platform,” said Bob Santelli, Executive Director for the GRAMMY Museum. “We are excited to partner with Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights for a night that will feature some of the most influential voices in songwriting, while inspiring a new generation of young artists to use music as a means to promote change.”

Accompanying Jackson on the road this February are longtime band mates Val McCallum (guitar), Mauricio Lewak (Drums), Jeff Young (keyboards) and Bob Glaub (bass), with the addition of acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Greg Leisz (guitar, lap steel, pedal steel). Standing In The Breach, Jackson’s new studio album, is a collection of ten songs, at turns deeply personal and political, exploring love, hope, and defiance in the face of the advancing uncertainties of modern life.

This is my ideal band, with some of my favorite players, all of whom appear on the new CD, and whose combined gifts provide the musical foundation and emotional underpinnings of my new songs, says Jackson. The interplay between Val McCallum and Greg Leisz on this album – the effortlessness of their chemistry is a gift really, that just dropped into my lap. I feel fortunate to have them out on the road for this tour.
