Singer songwriter Jackson Browne announces a 2nd benefit concert at Pechanga Resort & Casino on Sunday, February 25 at 7 PM, after Saturday’s show sold out. The benefit concert, Honoring Quiltman, will be held in the Pechanga Theater.  Tickets go on sale January 18 at 3 PM (Pacific Time) through Ticketmaster.com

Accompanying Jackson are longtime band mates Bob Glaub (bass), Mauricio Lewak (Drums), Val McCallum (guitar), Alethea Mills (Vocals), Chavonne Stewart (vocals) and Jeff Young (keyboards).  Also performing is John Trudell’s BAD DOG with Joel Rafael. 

The benefit concert, Honoring Quiltman, celebrates Quiltman Sahme, a traditional American Indian singer and drummer from Simnasho in Warm Springs, Oregon.  In August of 2017, Quiltman lost his family home in the Warm Springs Reservation wildfire.

In the early 1980s, Quiltman began performing with American Indian activist, speaker and poet John Trudell. Trudell was a leader of the Occupation of Alcatraz in the late 1960s and Chairman of the American Indian Movement from 1973-79. He passed away in December 2015.   Quiltman continues to sing with the original band members of John Trudell’s BAD DOG. John Trudell’s BAD DOG includes Mark Shark (guitars), Ricky Eckstein (bass & keyboards), Billy Watts (guitars), Debra Dobkin (percussion), Quiltman and his son Teewhanee Sahme (traditional vocals) along with Joel Rafael (vocals).

Singer Songwriter Jackson Browne announces a benefit concert at the Warner Grand Theatre located in San Pedro, CA on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 8:00 PM. Tickets go on sale this Friday, December 15 at 10 AM (Pacific Time) through Ticketmaster.com.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the non-profit organization Grand Vision Foundation, and its youth music education program, Meet the Music. Meet the Music partners with underserved Harbor Area elementary schools to provide music education in schools where it would not otherwise exist. Through inspirational live world music concerts and professional instruction, Meet the Music introduces music education to over 1800 students, teaching them to read music, play their first instrument and discover that they are music-makers!

Grand Vision Foundation is a community arts organization, founded in 1996 to inspire and engage LA’s Harbor and South Bay community. In addition to its youth music education program, Grand Vision produces arts and cultural experiences at the Warner Grand Theatre, San Pedro’s art deco movie palace, and at the Grand Annex, a cabaret theater dedicated to presenting an eclectic mix of Americana, roots, jazz and world music artists in downtown San Pedro. Underlying Grand Vision’s efforts is the belief that local arts have the power to bridge boundaries and unite our community.

Following his recently announced Australia tour in March, Jackson Browne has added two Hawaiian dates in Honolulu, Oahu and Kahului, Maui in April, and a string of dates on the East Coast in May. Singer Songwriter Jackson Browne announces a benefit concert at the Grand Annex located in San Pedro, CA on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 7:30 PM. Tickets go on sale this Friday, December 1 at 10 AM (Pacific Time) through the Grand Vision Box Office website at www.grandvision.org.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the non-profit organization ExposHer, Inc. ExposHer provides mentoring to inner city girls. The focus is to expose girls to life and culture that will be conducive to their development from girls to young women through various mentoring programs.

Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund (www.truecolorsfund.org) today announced the lineup for its 7th annual “Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays,” presented by AT&T, on Saturday, December 9th at New York City’s historic Beacon Theatre. A New York holiday tradition, the concert raises awareness about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth homelessness, with 100 percent of net proceeds supporting the True Colors Fund’s programs.

Cyndi Lauper will be joined on stage this year by Jackson Browne, Dr. John, Paulina Rubio, Sandra Bernhard, Bridget Everett, Jake Shears, Laura Jane Grace, Ani DiFranco, Peaches, Wrabel, Jazz Jennings, Judy Gold – and even more! “For the seventh year, Home for the Holidays will bring together an incredible group of performers to support the True Colors Fund’s work to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth,” said Lauper, the organization’s co-founder. “At this pivotal time in our nation’s history, we need to unite – rather than divide – the country any further. At Home for the Holidays, we will come together to raise our voices and celebrate our differences. In America, up to 40 percent of the 1.6 million youth that are homeless each year identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. Yet, less than seven percent of the general youth population is LGBT. The most cited reason for this disproportionate rate is family rejection due to the young person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

Co-founded by Cyndi Lauper, the True Colors Fund works nationally to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth. Through a broad continuum of advocacy, training & education, and youth collaboration programs, the True Colors Fund is creating a world in which young people can be their true selves.

Some highlights of the True Colors Fund’s work this year include:

• Hosting the third annual #40toNoneDay, a national day to raise awareness about LGBT youth homelessness, which has reached nearly 130 million people online in the past three years.
• Sending its free True Inclusion Toolboxes to nearly 500 service providers across the U.S., which will equip them with the tools they need to offer safe and affirming care for LGBT young people.
• Training hundreds of staff members from service provider organizations across Houston and Harris County on LGBT inclusion in the first ever True U Challenge.
• Facilitating the National Youth Forum on Homelessness, a youth-led project focused on ending youth homelessness in America, as members work alongside federal partners to provide technical assistance to communities working to end youth homelessness.
• Releasing At the Intersections, the most comprehensive resource on LGBT youth homelessness, in partnership with the National LGBTQ Task Force.
• Holding the fourth annual 40 to None Summit, the only national annual gathering focused on innovative solutions to end LGBT youth homelessness in America.
• Training its third class of True Fellows – young LGBT leaders with experiences of homelessness who collaborate on a variety of True Colors Fund projects for a period of six months.
• Releasing its annual 40 of the 40 list, which highlights 40 LGBT young people who have experiences with homelessness and provides them with opportunities to engage in the organization’s work.
• Providing free tools, resources, and training through its 40 to None Network for service providers and communities around the country to aid them in providing safe, inclusive, and welcoming support to LGBT youth experiencing homelessness.

Singer songwriter Jackson Browne announces a benefit concert on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Sunset Center in Carmel, CA to support Seaside’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School of the Arts.

Located in Seaside, CA, Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School of the Arts (MLK School of the Arts) is a vibrant learning environment in a district with a strong commitment to arts education. MLK School of the Arts is part of Turnaround Arts, a program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts that introduces a high-quality and integrated arts education to strengthen school reform efforts. Turnaround Arts was founded in 2011 under the Obama Administration of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities (PCAH), a White House advisory committee on cultural issues. With support from Turnaround Arts, the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District has more than doubled its music offerings, initiated an art and science DzEco Ambassadors program in the fifth grade, and hired a Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator to connect teaching artists and nonprofit arts organizations to its schools.

In 2015, MLK School for the Arts introduced music classes to all of its students and local teaching artists provided an additional 60 hours of arts instruction for the entire school. MLK School of the Arts has also partnered with The Arts Council of Monterey County, The San Jose Opera, the Carmel Music Society, the Sunset Center, and the Monterey Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival.
